This post is an oldie, but a goodie. It’s perfect for the upcoming holiday travel season.
This week, I had to travel to Minneapolis for work. Currently, I’m following a pretty intense clean eating and workout regimen, and we all know how easy it is to fall off the boat when you’re not sticking to your regular schedule. I was determined to try my best to eat healthy and workout while I was out of town.
As soon as I arrived, I went straight to the store to get a few healthy snacks. Unfortunately, the closest store was a Target and there was no fridge in my hotel room so I had to make do.
Here are a few pics of some of the things I ate. Pictured from top to bottom is the spinach and feta wrap from Starbucks, a salad from Chipotle, grilled sea bass, eggs, fresh fruit and potatoes, fresh fruit and snacks.
I wasn’t able to take photos of everything since I was out with my co-workers and the CEO of my company. I couldn’t be like “hold on a sec while I take a pic of my food for my blog!”
I did have some other fabulous things like Ahi tuna salad, a veggie burger, salmon and grilled veggies, etc. However there was a lot of networking involved and you know networking is code for drinking. I mostly stuck with wine though!
I made sure to pack multi-purpose outfits, for example, instead of bringing black jeans and blue jeans, I only packed the black pair since they go with more of my tops. I packed multiple tops that go with the same few pairs of shoes and all of the accessories that go with it. When I pack, I layout complete outfits – top, bottom, jewelry, belt and shoes. That way I don’t forget a crucial part.
I jacked the outfit with the yellow skirt straight from my mom’s closet. I’ve taught her well!
Easy Hair Care
When you’re traveling the last thing you want to do is fuss with your hair. I stuck with wash and gos, an easy up dos. No braiding or twisting here!
My go-to travel hair style is the Janelle Monae. Its perfect travel hair since everything is neatly tucked in you can lay your had back on the head rest for a nap. It keeps your hair out of your face and you know that your hair looks good at all times. There is nothing worse than looking like a hot mess while you’re traveling. You never know who you’re going to meet.
In my rush to catch my flight I forgot to snap a picture of my updo. Here is a past pic of it.
Of course I packed my workout gear so I can stick to my routine while out of town. I packed a workout outfit for everyday along with my spi belt and weight lifting gloves. I worked out in the hotel gym every morning . I wanted to make sure I set my self up to succeed.
The day I was scheduled to leave, I had a few hours of free time to explore the city. Someone told me that Minneapolis is one of the top cities for urban biking in the country! That morning, I rented a bike for about $1 and rode to the nearby park that overlooked the Mississippi river instead of hitting the hotel gym. I got a great workout and snapped some great pics.
They had a farmers market downtown!
All and all it was a good trip! How do you stay fit while traveling?
