Thursday, I was riding at white rock lake even though it was an ungodly 105 degrees outside. (I think I temporarily lost my mind.) On the way back to my car my stupid bike broke! The entire pedal just fell off! I was PISSED and 4 miles from my car. Luckily, I just passed a gas station where I saw a cop parked in his car. I asked him to give me a lift. He was really nice about it. As a black person, cops always seem to make me nervous even though I’ve never been in trouble with the law lol.
I just got my bike “fixed” at Dicks Sporting goods less than a month ago. The guy put on a new crank shaft after the other pedal that he “fixed” 2 months prior fell off. I will never go back there again. My bike is less that 4 months old! I’m going to take it to a real bike shop this time. I guess the moral of the story is to always be prepared. If I hadn’t been by the gas station, I would have used my phone to call my BF or a cab.
Be sure you ALWAYS carry the following things while biking:
You never know when you will need it
A little money and your ID
This has come in handy on many occasions! You might need to stop and buy some poweraide or call a freakin cab or maybe you just completely give up and need to stop and get a drink j/k lol
Bicycle repair kit
I’m buying one today. I will never bike without it!
Stun gun or pepper spray
Even though you can have it in your hand while you’re biking, it’s still good to have. Some of those biking trails are desolate and anyone can jump out and try to attack you. So be vigilant and carry something to protect yourself. People are crazy these days.
