Later on in the week we’ll give a recap of our trip to the Oklahoma City Naturals Expo. While there, I was re-inspired to do my full out hair washing routine. Over the past two months I slacked off from doing the residue removal, deep conditioning and oiling stage of my hair wash regimen. My apologies for not taking a picture of each stage. But here are the products that I used.
Step 1: Natural Essences’ Loc Residue Remover
The first step in my hair wash regimen is breaking up the sweat build up on my scalp. I run at least 4 times a week. Soon I’ll be adding on a gym day. Simply put, I sweat a lot. To ensure that my hair and scalp gets clean I use the loc residue remover to loosen up the build up so it’s easier to wash out. I purchased this product from Deep In The Roots Salon. I like the results that I get when I use it.
Step 2: Jamaican Mango Lime Tingle Shampoo
This is not my most favorite line of products but the Tingle shampoo gets the job done. Once I’ve used the Loc Residue Remover to breakup the build up on my scalp, I use the Tingle Shampoo as a first rinse to shampoo my locs and wash out the residue. It also helps with taking away the itchy scalp feeling.
Step 3: Shea Moisture Deep Cleansing Shampoo
The next step is using the Deep Cleansing shampoo as a second rinse. This shampoo includes an adequate amount of black soap and other natural clarifying agents. It also smells wonderful.
Step 4: Beautiful Textures Rapid Repair Deep Conditioner
I was introduced to this deep conditioner at the Sporty Afros National Natural Hair Meetup this past summer. So far it is the best deep conditioning product I have experienced. For me, the deep conditioning process is the most important. My deep conditioning process sets the tone of how I will moisturize my hair until the next time I wash it. I usually coat my hair with conditioner and wear a plastic cap for 30 minutes to an hour.

Step 5: Sporty Afros Ayurvedic Oil
After washing the deep conditioner out of my locs, I massage my scalp with Sporty Afros’s Ayurvedic Oil. Many of the oils that are considered “sealers” are found in this product.
This does not include my hair care regimen throughout the week. I’ll keep you posted on that. Sitting in on the various workshops at the expo inspired me to get back on top of my hair care regimen game.
