What Do You Do When You Are Having A Bad Day?

Sweaty workout but did it turn my day around?

I had a previous post planned today; however, it will have to wait till next week. I am not finished with it and I wanted to get some feedback from you all because ….

I am  Having a Bad Day. *tear

I try to be a beacon of positivity and happiness at least 80% of the time. However, today I feel 20% happy and 80% down. It happens from time to time but today I struggle with just keeping focused as my day started off in the wrong direction.

Me at work always working hard and with a smirk. 🙂

Whether it’s a bad hair day or being late to work, I forget that I am human at times and days like this happen to us all.

Today made me want to ask you all, our faithful followers and supporters – what you do when you have a bad day? I found a few ways to nix the bad day blues but I want to hear from YOU!

Ways to Turn Around a Bad Day

List What You Do Have:  Taking a moment to think about what you do have and what you are blessed with can change your prospective on your issue.

“Me” Time:  I am at fault for not taking enough time for myself. Oprah recently explained she tried to meditate for about 20 minutes and ended up meditating for only 12.

I had the intention to meditate for 20 minutes, but I really only made it about 12. And then I said, ‘Okay, don’t beat yourself up; you did the 12.’ I had the intention to work out for an hour, but I only did a half. And even with that I was still a half hour later getting here, so…

Talk To A Friend:  Sometimes you need to talk about what’s bothering you with a close friend. Just plain ol’ venting can help reduce anxiety.  Also, friends can help encourage you as well.

Pray: Sometimes reading a scripture or praying can turn your bad day into a better one.

Workout: There is nothing like practicing your kick boxing moves on a punching bag to release some of your aggression.

Shop: Retail therapy never hurt anyone…I personally enjoy shopping for workout clothes and hair care products.

How do you turn it around?

I just had one Monday. A hard, long workout helped!!! I wish I could do that every morning but I get up so early as it is. The other thing that helps me is spirituality – praying, reading scripture. I also have started a GRATITUDE JOURNAL. It helps to see in writing what is actually going ‘right’ with your life.

  • i know how it is!! I have a bad day here and there. I usually try to do a combination of a few things depending on my mood, $$, and work schedule. Most times I start a bad day the way i should start everyday with prayer and listening to some any of my fave gospel tunes to get my mind right. That usually helps me get through my work day. Then if i am still a bit in the dumps after work I may force myself to workout or do a Zumba class for fun. usually I come home to pray & meditate by myself. watch a little tv, maybe call the bff or my mom for a good laugh and try to sleep it off.

I’d like to do shop therapy more often, but my pocket book doesn’t always allow it…lol

I would listen to (positive) music mostly old school jams to help ease my mind when having a bad day (at work mostly). I would also talk to a friend who often tell me to “sit back and think of all things I’m grateful for” and that would help shift the scales.
I too, like the gratitude journal idea. hope things are better for you 🙂
