The weather is much cooler now in Texas. I am so happy to wear my tights, boots and large scarves to work now. Yay! But with cooler temperatures, your workouts might take a backseat. Check out three tips to stay active in cooler weather.
Three Tips for Staying Active in Cooler Weather
Tip #1: Set Your Heater
Like everyone else, I want to stay under the warm covers when my alarm goes off which causes me to miss my morning workouts. Boo! However, I have a solution if you have this problem as well.
Setup a small heater by your bed and schedule your morning alarm 15 minutes before you need to wake up for the gym. Once your alarm goes off, turn on the heater and hit your snooze button. By the time your alarm goes off again your room should be warm making it easier for you to get out the bed.
Tip #2: Sweat At Home
If you really can’t bear the cold temperatures, then invest in home gym equipment and online fitness programs. There are tons of workouts DVDs and many online services such as Gaiam TV for under $100 a month. Don’t want to invest or spend any money? Place your gym membership on hold for the winter season and use the Nike App or hit YouTube Fitness channels BexLife, Grit By Brit and Strength Camp for free targeted fitness videos.
Tip #3: Put Some Money Down
Once I put my money towards a race, I know I am going to train for it. Because of this, I always buy new workout shoes and gear as a winter motivator. Investing in your wardrobe will help motivate you to put use it. Looking good will not only help push you mentally but also keep you warm even when it’s 30 degrees outside.
