Have you fallen off the healthy living wagon? It’s ok. It happens to the best of us. Maybe you looked in the mirror and realized that you could be a better version of yourself. Whatever your reason is to get back on it, here are a 5 tips to help you get started.
Set a goal
What do you want to achieve? It has to be more than losing a few pounds. Do you want to run a 5k? Get off of your high blood pressure meds? Be able to play with your kids? Set that goal and DON’T STOP until you reach it. You don’t need a trainer, a fancy gym or expensive equipment. You just need yourself, serious willpower and a bit of creativity.
You have to be sick and tired of being sick and tired. You can’t half way do this thing. Either you’re in or you’re out. Do you want to achieve your goal more than anything? If you’re answer is no, you’re not going to succeed. It’s that simple. You have to be your own motivator. You have to get yourself up out of bed to workout, choose to eat a salad instead of a burger, refuse that glass of wine, etc. You MUST will yourself to keep going even when you don’t feel like it. You only have one life. God didn’t put us here to be mediocre. So get up and do something!
If you fail to plan, you plan to fail. Cliche? Yes. True? Absolutely.
You MUST meal prep in order to succeed when you initially start your healthy lifestyle. Once you’ve done it for a while, you can wing it more easily. I usually tell people to list their favorite meals and make healthy versions of them. It makes eating healthy way easier if you actually want to eat the meal you cooked. Here are a few helpful links:
I can’t tell people this enough, eating a healthy diet requires taking baby steps over a period of time. Alex and I didn’t become vegetarians over night. We both transitioned for over a year with lots of trial and error.
Baby step suggestions:
- Switch from white to wheat bread
- Switch from beef to turkey
- Cut back sweets 2 days a week and increase from there
- Replace soda with tea
As you replace unhealthy items with healthy ones you’ll reach your goals in no time. Try following the 80/20 rule – eating healthy 80 percent of the time and indulging 20 percent of the time. That comes out to 2 cheat meals a week if you eat 3 times a day. That’s pretty simple, right?
Don’t forget to plan what you’re going to do with your hair! That’s why we started the site after all. Don’t let your hair stop you from working out. Here’s Alex’s latest youtube video and a link to our workout hair care solutions library. You’re welcome.
Are you ready to get started? Good! Get up and get to it.
