From working together in corporate America to founding Sporty Afros, Whitney and I have a very unique, close relationship. Since today is her birthday, I figured I would share a few things she has taught me that have changed my life… I guess you would call these Whitneyisms..
There is still a kid inside of us. Never lose it.
Always celebrate the good and bad times with friends.
We have to support each other – Girl Power!
Yes. You can be cute, fly triathlete.
Your image is the reflection in the mirror. Become who you want to see.
Always be ready for the camera. You never know who you might run in to.
Always have a great pair of black heels and skinny jeans. For red carpet photos, stand with your legs slightly apart and smile while you inhale (it makes you stand up taller and look slimmer).
If you didn’t know. Beyonce Rocks!
Stop and have some “me” time… Repeat as needed.
Dress fly even when you feel like crap, eventually your mood will catch up with your flyness.
God places people and friends around you who will support you when you just can’t do it alone.
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.
(Not a whitneyism but a scripture that she has said multiple times.)
I am going to remember this moment just so I can refer to it on How I made my first million.
Always evolve and try new things. A must is hair and makeup!
