There is tons of information out there about how to style your hair, what products to use, etc. But what the heck do you do with it at night? Black hair takes a little TLC at night. You cant just roll out of bed like Kim Kardashian and look perfect. Sorry, it doesn’t work that way honey bunny….
Night Time Hair Care Gear
This is a MUST for all women. I got one of these a few years ago and it has been a God send. Satin pillow cases are perfect if you don’t like to tie your hair down at night but you want it to still look nice in the morning and avoid breakage and spit ends.

Night Time Hair Care Methods for Natural Hair
Golden Rule: Moisture!
Make sure your hair is moisturized before you go to sleep. Dryness is the enemy of natural hair. Personally, I like to moisturize my hair in the morning. I find that if I moisturize my hair at night, I break out where ever my face touches the pillow. All of the oil I use to moisturize gets on my pillow and messes with my skin. I have very sensitive, acne prone skin 🙁 I moisturize every morning and I find that my hair is still soft and moisturized by the time I go to sleep. If its feeling particularly dry, I will use I light water-based moisturizer like Sporty Afros G+ Spray, then I will follow up with my shoealoe butter in the morning.
You should be doing something to your hair at night, period.
1. The Pineapple
The pineapple is just pulling all your hair up on top of your head. This is what I do almost every night. I pull my hair up into a pineapple and I sleep on a satin pillow case. I’m lazy and I wanted to find the method that required a minimal amount of effort.
2. Re-twisting or re-braiding
If you wear a twist out or a braid out, you can re-twist or re-braid your hair and tie it down with a silk scarf. This way, your hair is ready to go in the morning.
Night Time Hair Care for Pressed Hair
Use a light argon oil and wrap your hair or and tie it down with a silk scarf. In the morning, all you have to do is take it down and arrange it!
2. Pin curls
I use bobby pins, a brush and a little argon oil to pin curl it in big chunks then tie a silk scarf over it.
